Ainsworth FFA Chapter Competes in Range and Livestock Judging, Leadership Development Events

Ainsworth FFA members compete in a variety of knowledge and skill-based competitions throughout the year, including Range Judging, Livestock Judging and Leadership Development Events.

Range Judging

On September 10th Ainsworth FFA members attended range judging in Sargent. Thirty-four FFA members attended the contest, which was open to 9th - 12th grade students.

Logan Hafer received 10th and Libby Wilkins placed 35th. Other team members were CeeAnna Beel and Maia Flynn. The Junior team’s top five team members were Colten Orton, Terrin Barthel, Airyan Goochey, and Trey Appelt.

On September 17th, 35 Ainsworth FFA members attended a range judging contest. The top five Seniors were Logan Hafer placing 17th, Ben Flynn placing 19th, Libby Wilkins placing 55th and Tommy Ortner placing 57th. The senior team finished 8th.

The top five Juniors were led by Colten Orton finishing 56th, Trey Appelt, Makenzy Cheatum and Airyan Goochey joined Colten on the top Ainsworth Team.

Due to COVID-19 District and State Range Judging were cancelled.

Livestock Judging

On November 12th Ainsworth FFA members attended District Livestock Evaluation in Ord. Fourteen students attended the contest and were taken by Mr. Hafer.

Livestock Evaluation emphasizes skills students will be able to use in livestock production and allows students to defend their reasoning by giving oral reasons to Collegiate Livestock Judgers. Results are as follows: Senior team 15th and Junior team 15th.

Leadership Development Events (LDEs)

Ainsworth Community Schools (ACS) hosted this year’s District X Leadership Development Events. These events are focused on speeches and agricultural leadership activities.

Over 300 students were welcomed into the school by staff members. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of ACS Staff and Judge Volunteers.

Speaking - Aquaculture in Nebraska;

Libby Wilkins in Extemporaneous; and

Maren Arens in Job Interview.

State Qualifiers and District Runner-Up:

Alyssa Erthum in Job Interview;

Senior Parliamentary Procedure - Team members: Libby Wilkins, Ben Flynn, Logan Hafer, Maia Flynn, Ty Schlueter, and Alyssa Erthum. Alternates: Haley Schroedl and CeeAnna Beel.

Purple Ribbons:

Josie Ganser in Senior Public Speaking - Genetic Engineering: Its Impact on Modern Agriculture; and

Katrina Beel in Senior Public Speaking - Women in Agriculture.

Blue Ribbons:

Kieley Walz in Natural Resource Speaking - Feral Horses and their Affect on the Environment;

Logan Hafer in Extemporaneous Speaking;

Josie Ganser and Ellie Welke in Ag Demonstration - Bull Testing;

Libby Smith and Shaley Starkey in Ag Demonstration - Canine Oral Health;

Makenna Pierce in Junior Public Speaking - Ag Education in Urban America;

Moriah Cheatum in Junior Public Speaking - Feral Hogs;

Conduct of Chapter Meetings - Team Members: Trey Appelt, Airyan Goochey, Makenzy Cheatum, Terrin Barthel, Riggin Blumensto, Lura Hodge and Bailey Bowen; and
