United Methodist Church Serves Christmas Dinner... A Day Early

Members of the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth provided Christmas Dinner to area residents for the third year running. The only difference was this year, Christmas 2023, was provided a day early. A snowstorm was developing over much of Nebraska and Christmas Day was expecting blizzard conditions. So the church moved Christmas Dinner up one day and provided a full turkey dinner with potatoes, vegetables, stuffing and dessert on December 24th from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. instead of December 25th.

Dr. Melvin Campbell met vehicles as they drove up to the Methodist Church to affirm pre-orders and deliver dinners to the vehicles. Other volunteers delivered meals to individuals that couldn't get out.

The volunteers had quite an assembly line filling up plates and getting the meals ready for pickup or delivery. They cooked eight turkeys and served 165 meals with all the trimmings.
