Recycling grants are available to give local communities the resources they need to create, expand, or enhance recycling programs. The Nebraska Recycling Council hasgrantfundsofupto$25,000.00 for the purchase of recycling equipment.

ALFALFA WEEVIL RESISTANCE TO PYRETHROIDS By: Samantha Daniel Alfalfa weevil is a serious pest of alfalfa and can cause significant damage, usually in April and May before the first cutting. Reports of reduced efficacy of pyrethroids in Nebraska as well as confirmed resistance to pyrethroids in several western states led to a project in 2025 to determine if Nebraska weevil populations are developing resistance.

Winter and Early Spring are Prime Times for Bald Eagle Viewing

Bald eagles can be seen yearround across Nebraska, but winter and early spring are the best times of year to see large numbers of bald eagles. Large concentrations of bald eagles arrive in winter to hunt for fish and ducks in the open waters of rivers and large reservoirs where ice has formed.
