Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

North Central RC&D to Host Lick Tub Challenge

Nick Martin fired a 2-under par round of 34 Thursday to top the field by five shots during men’s league golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Ben Wright, Heath Rudnick and Graig Kinzie carded rounds of 39.

Archery Paddlefish Season is June 1-30

Nebraska’s archery paddlefish season is open June 1-30 from sunrise to sunset on a designated area of the Missouri River. That open area of the Missouri, where paddlefish may be taken by bow and arrow and possessed, is from Gavins Point Dam downstream to the mouth of the Big Sioux River at mile marker 734.

CS Announces Spring Semester Honor Roll and Roll of Excellence

Pillen Signs Legislation Banning Fake Meat

Governor Jim Pillen signed LB246, banning the production, sale, promotion and distribution of fake meat in Nebraska. The bill was sponsored on the Governor’s behalf by Senator Barry DeKay.

Campfire Ban Lifted at All Nebraska State Parks and WMAs

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has lifted its temporary ban on campfires at central and western state park and wildlife management areas. Campfires already were permitted at locations in eastern Nebraska.
