Question: How can I attract bees to my garden? Part 3 Just as important as housing are food and water. A shallow bowl or birdbath works well, but be sure to provide a safe place for them to land such as sticks or pebbles in the water. This will prevent drowning. Muddy puddles left from watering your plants also furnish water. In fact, bees prefer muddy water because it supplies them with necessary minerals.

Warm Windy Conditions Bring Fire Danger

Sixty degree weather and strong northwest winds created problems for area fire departments on Monday, February 24th. Two fire calls came at the same time for area firemen.

Nebraska Game & Parks Placing GPS Collars on Area Elk

On February 3rd and 4th, you may have seen a low flying helicopter searching the canyons and creek bottoms in parts of Keya Paha, Brown, and Rock counties. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission partnered with researchers at University of Nebraska- Lincoln and local landowners to look for elk to capture and fit with Global Positioning System (GPS) collars.

Ready, Set, Spread: Manure Application Workshops Near You

Turning manure nutrients into better crop yields while protecting the environment will be the focus of Nebraska Extension workshops being held across the state this February and March, including a location at Chambers, NE on March 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT.
