Ainsworth Community Schools to Withdraw from Southwest Conference

Withdrawal from SWC During the regular meeting of the Ainsworth Community Schools Board of Education on Monday, February 12th, the board had received permission from the superintendents involved in the Southwest Conference to withdrawal from the SWC effective after the 2023-2024 school year. After open discussion at the January 9, 2024 regular school board meeting, it was clear the Ainsworth Board would be ready to entertain a motion to formally withdrawal from the Southwest Conference.

Primary Election Filing Deadline for Incumbents is February 15th

The filing deadline for incumbents for the Primary Election to be held on May 14th, 2024 is Thursday, February 15th. People who have filed as of noon on Monday, February 12th are: Brown County Commissioner 4-year term are Buddy Small (incumbent) and Donnie Painter.

More than 6,800 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

A recent spurt of warm temperatures may decrease ice stability across Nebraska water bodies. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission warns anybody venturing onto the ice to be cautious and use the following safety tips: • Never go out alone.
