The Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary Unit #79 met May 23, 2023 at the American Legion #79 Post Home. Following a prayer by Chaplain Ellen, President Marilyn called the meeting to order at 7:37 p.m.

U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (RNE) announced his constituent casework staff will be hosting Mobile Office Hours around the state.

The Nebraska FFA Association spent the second part of May hosting statewide Chapter Officer Leadership Training, better known as COLT to the FFA members who attend. Ainsworth FFA officers attended the COLT Conference in Arurora.

Midwest Culture is unique. We “America’s Heartlanders” are known for our outdoor hobbies, farming, winter survival strategies, hard work and country living. We are also known for our politeness. It is at times an autopilot response to hold a door open, greet another with a smile, drop off treats for a neighbor or when running into someone familiar ask, “how are you?” How often have we asked, “how are you” and heard the answer, “good” or “fine” or even answered this question ourselves this way.

“28th Annual Masonic All-Star Marching Band Camp” This past week, I had the privilege of being a chaperone and a committee member on the Advisory Committee for the Masonic All-Star Marching Band Camp in Kearney, NE. I think the total count of students was 175. The students from Ainsworth - Colby Beegle and William Biltoft represented our community well.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department investigated a one-vehicle accident on May 24th, 2023 on Highway 183 near mile marker 277. Duane Reposa, age 80, of McCook, NE was driving a 2007 Dodge Durango southbound on 183.
