Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Brown County Report August 7 - 13, 2022 Sunday, August 7th During a traffic stop on Highway 20, near mile marker 243, a Washington licensed driver was issued a citation for speeding 16-20 mph over the posted speed limit. Received reports of suspected dog neglect in Ainsworth and Johnstown.

Hailey McBride 7th - 12th Grade Art Education Hailey isn't new to the Ainsworth School District as she has spent the past two years as a full-time Paraprofessional now becoming the teacher of 7th 12th grade Art Education. Her educational background includes being an alumni of Ainsworth Community Schools.

Ainsworth Voters Approve LB840 Local Sales Tax for Economic Development

In a special election on Monday, August 9, 2022, 18.07% of the 1,024 eligible voters in the City of Ainsworth, went to the voting polls and voted to pass the renewal of LB840, the 1/2% sales tax for economic development for another 15 years. Votes cast were 168 in favor and 17 against.
