Extending 1/2% City Sales Tax Vote Set for Tuesday, August 9th;

Residents of Ainsworth and the surrounding area are invited to attend a public meeting on Monday, August 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Ainsworth Conference Center to learn about extending Ainsworth’s 1/2% City Sales Tax for another 15 years.

Chad Pierce and Karissa Beck Win 3rd Week Honors for Yard of the Week

This week’s Yard of the Week winner announced by the Ainsworth Area Chamber of Commerce goes to Karissa Beck and Chad Pierce, who reside at 1004 2nd Street in Ainsworth. Their yard includes potted flower pots on their deck rail containing marigolds and a citronella plant. Around their mailbox they have bar berries and fescue grass. Their deck allows them to sit and enjoy the nice evenings we have been experiencing. They also have a nice shade tree on the west side of their house.

The Student Doctor; A Complement to Patient Care

As a clinical professor at my state’s medical school, I frequently have medical students seeing patients with me in clinic. While the majority of patients are happy to allow student involvement, some decline. This makes me wonder what misconceptions lead patients to be averse to trainees participating at their clinic visits or hospital bedsides. In my experience, the presence of learners has a positive influence on our work in the clinic and hospital.

Ainsworth Women’s League Golf

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League winners for scramble format on Wednesday, July 13th. Low scores were: Low scramble scores for July 13 were: 33 - Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins; 37 - Brenda Konkoleski, Chelsey Peterson, Rylee Pierce and Danielle Palmer; 38 - Kathy Worrell, Stephanie Kinzie and Julie Micheel; and 39 - Calista Wilson, Jeri Graff and Kelli Kral.

Ainsworth Men’s League Golf

Five golfers shared the top spot Thursday, July 14th during Men’s League Golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Bryce Coleman, Nick Martin, Logan Leach, Doug Weiss and Graig Kinzie each carded 1-over par rounds of 37 to lead the field. Jess Swan, Brett Knoetzel, Joel Klammer and Landon Welke each shot 2-over par rounds of 38.
