Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

During the final night of Ainsworth Women’s League Golf, there was a tie for low score on the night. The two teams of Amanda Murphy, Natalie Leach and Christy Fullen and Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell turned in a score of 32. Other teams shooting in the 30s during scramble play were Ann Hoch, Wendy Wilkins and Jen Martin shooting a 36; Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Chelsey Peterson and Riley Pierce turned in a 37; and Ashley Martin, Lydia Welke and Rachel Schumacher shot a 38.

Ainsworth Girls Golf Team Tees Up for the 2024 Season

Heather Lutter, Head Girls Golf Coach, is excited to see where this season of competition takes her team. Lutter is in her 11th year of coaching and has 10 girls out for golf this year.

Sports Drink Scrimmages Set

The High School Volleyball Team will have a Gatorade Scrimmage on Thursday, August 22nd in McAndrew Gymnasium starting at 5:00 p.m. The High School Football Team will have a Sports Drink Scrimmage on Friday, August 23rd at East City Park.

Fall Sport Athletes and Coaches Working Hard For a Season of Bulldog Victories

Ainsworth High School coaches for the fall sports season were contacted and offered the following comments on the upcoming season. Cross country’s first meet is on Thursday, September 5th, and their season start-up will be printed in a subsequential edition of the Ainsworth Star-Journal.

John Pierce Records His First Hole-In-One

John Pierce teed up his ball on the Eighth Hole on the Ainsworth Golf Course and proceeded to get his first Hole-In-One on Thursday, August 8th.

Due to the location of the hole on the Eighth green, John and his playing partners weren’s able to actually see the ball go into the cup, but it was witnessed by Cam Palmer. When John got to the green, sure enough there was his ball in the bottom of the cup.

The hole on August 8th was playing 169 yards from the blue tee box. This was the first recorded hole-in-one since 2017.

The team of Amanda Murphy, Natalie Leach and Christy Fullen shot a 6 under par, 30, during league scramble golf on Wednesday, August 7th. Wendy Wilkins, Jen Martin and Ann Hoch shot a 36 followed by the team of Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell who turned in their league score of 38. Other teams turning in scores in the 30s included, Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Chelsey Peterson and Rylee Pierce who shot a 38 and the team of Ashley Martin, Rachel Schumacher and Lydia Allen who shot a round of 39.

Valentine Ball Busters Win 2024 Zach Jones Memorial Softball Tournament

The 2024 Zach Jones Memorial softball tournament was held Sunday, August 11th at the Ainsworth East City Park. Team teams competed in the tournament with five teams from Ainsworth two teams from Rosebud, SD, one team from Gordon, NE, one team from Wayne, NE and one team from Valentine, NE.

Pink Ladies Dart League Hosts Golf Tournament

The Ainsworth Pink Ladies Dart League hosted their annual 4-Person Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 10th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. Ten teams participated in the event. This tournament is a fundraising opportunity to help raise funds to assist those who are fighting the battle with cancer.
