Ainsworth Volleyball Defeats South Loup in Five Sets

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs defeated South Loup in five sets on October 17th in Arnold. In five close sets, the Lady Bulldogs came out on top, 3-2.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs were in Valentine, NE on Friday, October 20th for the Southwest Conference Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs came away with two losses and one win.

The Ainsworth Girls Cross Country Team brought home the 2023 Class D Cross Country State Runner-Up trophy from the 2023 NSAA State Cross Country Championships held in Kearney on October 20th. Team members are (Left to Right) Co-Head Coach Katie Winters, Katherine Kerrigan, Emma Kennedy, Tessa Barthel, Preselyn Goochey, Kiley Orton and Co-Head Coach Trey Schlueter.

Katherine Kerrigan took first place in the Class D Girls competition at the 2023 NSAA State Cross Country Championships and the Ainsworth Girls Cross Country Team ran to the Runner-Up team trophy. The State Cross Country Championship was held at the Kearney Country Club in Kearney on October 20th.

Ainsworth’s defense caused a Kenesaw fumble that was recovered by Owen Blumenstock with 34 seconds left in the first quarter. The next play, Traegan McNally connected with Carter Nelson in the end zone for a touchdown.

After going 8-0 during the regular football season, the Ainsworth Bulldogs hosted the Kenesaw Blue Devils in the First Round Class D 8-Man Football Playoffs on October 19th. On a perfect football day, the Bulldogs defeated the 4-4 Kenesaw Blue Devils 72-13.

Following their 8th win of the season, Trey Appelt (left) and Carter Nelson (right) put Head Coach Jessi Owen on their shoulders and carried him to the west end zone where the entire football team was waiting.

For the second straight year the Ainsworth Bulldog Football Team had a perfect 8-0 regular season. The Dawgs hosted the Boyd County Spartans on October 13th for the final game of the regular football season.

This is the time of year when deer are more active. Crops are being harvested and deer breeding season is in full swing. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has tips to help drivers avoid deer-vehicle accidents and lessen the risk of injury or vehicle damage.

Ainsworth High School hosted the 2023 Class D-3 District Cross Country Meet on October 11th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. The District Meet was scheduled for October 12th, but due to expected rain and wind, the meet was moved up one day to October 11th.

Broken Bow Triangular Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs travelled to the Broken Bow Triangular on Tuesday, October 10th where they played against Mc-Cook and Broken Bow. McCook Against McCook, the Dawgs took the match to three sets, loosing in the third set, 23-25, 25-17 and 19-25.
