Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Ainsworth Mayor Joel Klammer reported that Kent Taylor was recently re-elected to the Ainsworth City Council. “We had two seats open for the Ainsworth City Council during the recent election, but Kent Taylor was the only candidate on the ballot and he was elected for one of the two council seats,” said Klammer.

Mountain Lion Lottery Application Period Open Through December 11

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept lottery applications for mountain lion permits through December 11, 2024, for the 2025 hunting season. Permits are available only to Nebraska residents, who may have one permit per calendar year.
