Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Council Approves Converting Legion Field to Multipurpose Field

During the regular meeting of the Ainsworth City Council on September 11th, Park Board Chairman Cody Goochey asked the council to consider converting the Legion Baseball Field in East City Park to a Multipurpose Ball Field.

This year’s skit required the Homecoming Candidates, to listen to a song being played, and when it stopped, they had to raise their hand and who was ever first and called upon by the cheerleaders, had to finish the lyrics, name the song and what artist sang it. The duo team of Miah Ortner and Morgan Kinney won the challenge.

Ainsworth Girls Varsity Cross Country Team Wins Ainsworth Invitational

The Ainsworth Cross Country Teams opened their season by hosting the 2024 Ainsworth Cross Country Invite at the Ainsworth Golf Course on September 5th. With the temperature at 78 degrees and north winds at 5-10 mph, the Ainsworth Girls Varsity Cross Country Team placed first in the Ainsworth Invitational for the ninth straight year that started in 2016.

Ainsworth Bulldogs Host Sandhills/Thedford for Homecoming Football Game

It was Homecoming Week for Ainsworth and on Friday, September 6th, the Bulldogs hosted the 2023 Class D2 football champions, the Sandhills/Thedford Knights. In a great game, the Ainsworth Bulldogs came up just short, 54-56, of upsetting the defending champions Sandhills/Thedford Knights.

Ainsworth Girls Golf Team Competes in West Holt Invitational

On Thursday, September 5th, the Ainsworth High School Girls Golf team competed in the West Holt Invitational at the Atkinson-Stuart Country Club. This was a great day of competition for the team, as many of the schools in this tournament will be seen again for district competition.
