Brown County Hospital Board Approves Several Repappointments for the Hospital Staff

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, June 17, 2024. The meeting was called to order by Brian Delimont, Secretary and Treasurer, Kirk Peterson, Board President was excused. Other members in attendance were John Gross, Tate Schipporeit and Brent Deibler. Also attending were Mirya Hallock - CEO, Tad Stearns - CFO, Tawny Allen - HR, and Robin Johannssen - Recording Secretary. Dr. Melvin Campbell and Jennifer Schiermeyer, Nurse Practitioner also attended.

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

After six weeks of Ainsworth’s Women’s Golf League completed, the team of Amanda Murphy, Christy Fullen and Natalie Leach are still in first place with 60.50 points. The team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins are in second place with 51 points and in third place is the team of Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell with 43.50.

Commissioners Approve a 2025 Mountain Lion Season

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved staff recommendations for a 2025 mountain lion hunting season at its June 21 meeting in Ogallala. Game and Parks’ genetic surveys in 2023 estimate there are 70 mountain lions in the Pine Ridge, up from the last estimate of 33 in 2021.

Two Ainsworth Middle School Student Projects Compete at National History Day

On Monday, June 10th, four students from Ainsworth Middle School participated at the national level of the National History Day (NHD) competition in College Park, Maryland. One of those projects, a performance by sixth grade students, Keith Munnu, Max Hasenohr, and Paul Denny, was named the outstanding junior entry from the state of Nebraska.

Sandhill Precision Rifle Club Holds 2nd Annual Sandhills Shootout

The Sandhills Precision Rifle Club held its 2nd Annual Sandhills Shootout on June 15th west of Johnstown, NE. The 2nd Annual Sandhills Shootout was sponsored by Zeiss, a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics, founded in Jena, Germany in 1846.
