Candidates competing for the Harriet Hughes Outstanding Fine Arts Student of the Year is required to write and essay on “What Fine Arts Mean to Me”. Following is what Taylor Allen had to say: In my eyes, Fine Arts isn’t simply performing in front of an audience. It isn’t just going to one act practice or writing a speech or trialing a court case. In my eyes, Fine Arts is a pathway into creativity, individualism, and socialism.

Ainsworth Tracksters Compete Well at Norfolk Classic

Ainsworth tracksters competed well at the Norfolk Classic on April 24th at the Norfolk High Track and Field facility. Carter Nelson brought home gold medals in both the Discus and Pole Vault along with third place in the 200 Meters and was part of the 4x100 Relay team that took fourth place.

Ainsworth Track Teams Compete in SWC Track Meet

The Ainsworth Boys and Girls Track Teams competed in the Southwest Conference Track Meet in Minden on April 27th. Both of the Ainsworth teams struggled against the much larger schools of SWC.

Ainsworth Elks Lodge #1790 Proclaims Youth Week

Ainsworth Joel Klammer signed a proclamation for the Ainsworth Elk Lodge #1790 declaring May 1st - 7th as Youth Week. The proclamation stated: Whereas, the Benevolent and Protection Order of Elks has designated May 1st - 7th, as Youth Week to honor America’s Junior Citizens for the accomplishments, and to give fitting recognition of their services to Community, State and nation; and, Whereas, Ainsworth Elks Lodge #1790 will sponsor an observance during this week in tribute to the Junior Citizens of this Community; and, Whereas, no event could be more deserving of our support and participation than one dedicated to these young people who represent that nation’s greatest resource, and who in the years ahead will assume the responsibility for the advancement of our free society; and, Whereas, our Youth need the guidance, inspiration and encouragement which we along can give in order to help develop those qualities of character essential for future leadership; and go forth to serve America; and, Whereas, to achieve this worthy objective we should demonstrate our partnership with Youth, our understanding of their hop-es and aspirations and a sincere willingness to help prepare them in every way for the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship: Now, Therefore, I Joel Klammer, Mayor of Ainsworth, do hereby proclaim the first week in May as Youth Week, and urge all departments of government, civic, fraternal and patriotic groups, and our citizens generally, to participate wholeheartedly in its observance..
