Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Niobrara Council Accepts Quiet Parks International Trail Award

The Niobrara Council accepted the Quiet Parks International Trail award ceremony for the Niobrara National Scenic River on Friday, October 20, 2023. The ceremony was attended by Niobrara Council members, Nebraska Tourism officials and the general public.

Thought for the week: “Music is well said to be the speech of angels.” --Thomas Carlyle Well goodbye summer. We had our first snow on October 28th with cold temperatures arriving on Friday. Slick conditions were reported in the area. I hope we have some Indian summer weather now after this first snow. Some people reported a trace and others about 2 inches.
