“I’m just a state senator.” I have to say that occasionally to Nebraskans who contact me about what are “federal” issues that concern the United State Congress. Some people don’t realize the state of Nebraska doesn’t have jurisdiction over a number of different things effecting their lives.

Governor Jim Pillen had an epiphany that paying a consultant $10 million over the next four years would save the state money. Pillen has signed the $2.5 million/year contract, renewable three times, with Epiphany Associates of Utah to find ways to save the state money.

Hunt Safe Session Set for October 28th

Conservation Officer Tyler Adelman will be teaching a Hunt Safe Session at the Long Pine Archery Range, on October 28th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Muriel Graham Takes to the Air

Justin Wan Muriel (Williams) Graham, 94, flew with pilot Scott “Scooter” DeLong in World War II-era Boeing Stearman bi-plane at the Lincoln Airport on Wednesday, September 20th. Graham’s flight was part of Dream Flights, a program that takes veterans and their spouses to tour the sky.

Mid-America Manufacturing Index Advances Above Growth Neutral

One-Third Expecting Recession Before End of Quarter One in 2024 After two straight months of readings below growth neutral, the Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions Index, a leading economic indicator for the nine-state region stretching from Minnesota to Arkansas, climbed above the 50.0 growth neutral threshold for September. Overall Index: The Business Conditions Index, which uses the identical methodology as the national Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and ranges between 0 and 100 with 50.0 representing growth neutral, increased to a weak 52.5 from 49.5 in August.
