This year, however, we look forward to a public event to see whether the groundhog sees his shadow and declares six more weeks of winter, or does not see his shadow and proclaims an early spring!

Filings Continue for Local Elections

With Nebraska’s Primary Election set for Tuesday, May 10, 2022 candidates continue to file for offices. The deadline for incumbents to file is February 15, 2022 and March 1, 2022 for non-incumbents to file.

USDA Announces Conservation Reserve Program Signups for 2022

Agricultural producers and landowners can sign up soon for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), a cornerstone conservation program offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and a key tool in the Biden-Harris Administration effort to address climate change and achieve other natural resource benefits. The General CRP signup will run from January 31st to March 11th, and the Grassland CRP signup will run from April 4th to May 13th.

Nebraska Again Improves Best-Ever Unemployment Rate

Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement on January 26th, following news that Nebraska’s unemployment rate has dropped to 1.7% for December 2021. That’s a decrease from the state’s rate of 1.8% for November 2021. Nebraska’s current unemployment rate is the lowest ever recorded in the United States.
