How About a Quick Refresher of Regents v. Exon 44 Years Later? It was 44 years ago that the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled the University of Nebraska Board of Regents — and not the Legislature — was the university’s governing authority.

The Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council (NAYC) is a leadership opportunity for college students interested in careers in agriculture. In late November, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) announced the 2021-2022 NAYC Members. 2019 AHS graduate Sam Wilkins and 2021 AHS graduate Logan Hafer, who both attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, are both on the council. Wilkins was selected to serve on the 2021-2022 NAYC leadership team as the Secretary.

The Long Pine City Council held a regular meeting on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at the Long Pine Community Center. Council members Dave Cheatum, Kathy Papstein and Andrea Collatos were present, as well as City Clerk Jan Buoy, Mayor Ed Brown and Utilities Superintendent Jim DeBolt. Council member Linda Alberts was absent with illness.

The Ainsworth community, once again, put together the 60th Annual Community Christmas Pageant sponsored by the Ainsworth Women’s Club. Through pageantry, song and acting out the pageant story, those in attendance could feel the presence of the true meaning of Christmas.

Santa Claus arrived in style on Sunday afternoon, December 5th in Ainsworth, as the Ainsworth Fire and Rescue Department delivered Santa Claus to the Ainsworth Mini Park while playing Christmas music on their way.

With Ainsworth hosting its first year of NSAA-sanctioned girls wrestling, the Bulldogs are ready for the fierce competition to begin. Under coaches Todd Pollock and Blaine Finney, the Ainsworth Bulldogs have two wrestlers competing for the 2021-2022 season in girls wrestling.
