The Alumni Parade will be begin at 10:00 a.m. at the East City Park on Saturday, June 26th (please be aware that the Ainsworth Star-Journal will begin taking pictures of class floats at 9:15 a.m.) That evening, the Alumni Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The celebration of America’s Independence is a long-held tradition, now often celebrated with food, family, friends and fireworks. Fireworks stands will be opening for business in the next few days, and customers can purchase them between the dates of June 25th and ending at midnight on July 4th. In preparation for the upcoming Fourth of July, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the local fire departments wish to remind the public about the regulations concerning fireworks.

The Pavilion at Hidden Paradise in Long Pine opened its doors (partially) to the public after being closed for 17 years. The Pavilion was last open for business in 2004.

Conservation is something that Nebraskans are known for. They’re fine stewards of their land, as well as their animals and crops they’re raising to feed our nation and the world.

A year or so ago, we at the Long Pine Heritage Society raised funds and installed a Nebraska State Historical Marker on Main Street. It reads: “Long Pine: A Railroad Town.” In 160 words or less it details Long Pine’s railroad history.
