The Ainsworth Lions Club held its regular monthly meeting at noon on August 18 at the Ainsworth Senior Center. Lion President Geraldine Erickson called the meeting to order with nine members present.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved a 2026 mountain lion hunting season. Commissioners approved a season in three hunting units, increasing the harvest limit in one unit while keeping them the same in the other two.

On August 19th, Wendy Murphy, the Nebraska State R3 Coordinator for Pheasants Forever, travelled to Lincoln to attend Governor Jim Pillen’s signing of a proclamation designating August as National Shooting Sports Month in Nebraska.

A firearm hunter education course will be offered by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission volunteer instructors in Bassett on Saturday, September 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
