The Brown County Commissioners met for the first of two regular meetings this August in the Brown County Courthouse on August 5. Board members present were chairman Dennis Bauer and member Don Painter.

The sturdy, eco-friendly seat, donated by the North Central Nebraska RC&D and Champlin Tire Recycling, Concordia, Kansas, has been placed in front of the Keya Paha County Library, offering residents a place to gather and rest. Members of the RC&D who had paid dues were eligible for a drawing, with Keya Paha County winning the bench. Manufactured by Back Atcha Outdoor Furniture, a division of Champlin Tire Recycling, the bench is made from 100% recycled plastics and rubber and designed to last for years while withstanding the elements.
