The Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department received a new fire truck using grant funds obligated by the United States Department of Agriculture. In September of 2023 the USDA obligated $100,000 of grant funds for the fire truck.

According to the Ainsworth Star-Journal April 3, 1952, edition, in late March of 1952, three people were killed in a shooting near Merriman. George Mensinger and his wife Alene were shot and killed, and their infant son was hospitalized, and Deo Gardner, the Mensinger’s neighbor was also killed.

Those who have never experienced an addiction can seem unsympathetic and uncaring. Why? There are several reasons, like thinking that self-inflicting destruction does not deserve compassion, or maybe it’s the arrogance of thinking they themselves would never be so blind as to let something like that happen to them. I feel the greater consideration would be, “is becoming captured in the dependency of a chemical more offensive to God than any other type of obsessive attraction or dependence?” Is drug addiction more of a sin than the addiction of overeating, pornography, alcohol, pain meds, anger, or gambling?
