Spring wild turkey season begins March 25 for archers in Nebraska. The youth shotgun season opens April 5, with the regular shotgun season starting April 12.

Smith Falls State Park Fully Open

Smith Falls State Park is fully open now that the ice has melted off the roads and campsites. An ice jam on the Niobrara River broke loose on February 19, pushing onto the campground and blocking roads.

Ainsworth Students Compete in National History Day District Competition in Kearney

The University of Nebraska at Kearney hosted a Nebraska National History Day district contest Wednesday March 12, with 140 middle and high school students competing. Ainsworth, Arapahoe, Loup City, Loup County, McCook, Ord and Rock County participated in the event – one of seven district contests across the state.

On March 1st, more than 350 attendees gathered to celebrate the brand-new Rock County Community Center in Bassett. The evening event featured dueling pianists, prime rib served by the Bassett Country Club, and a tour of the new community center.
