Long Pine City Council Approves Income Survey

Two members of Central Nebraska Economic Development District (CNEDD) met with the Long Pine City Council during their regular meeting on October 3rd to discuss an income survey. Lone Pine has applied for a CDBG grant to update the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

Temporary Campfire Ban in Effect at all Game and Parks Areas

The Nebraska Game and Parks is implementing a temporary ban on campfires at all Nebraska state park areas and wildlife management areas until further notice. Camp stoves using liquid or gas fuel are permitted as they reduce the likelihood of ash or hot charcoal being discarded before they are extinguished.

Early Voting at County Election Offices Begins

Early in-person voting for the general election began October 7th, at Nebraska county election offices. “County election offices are open and prepared to welcome voters to their offices,” Secretary of State Bob Evnen said.

Brown County Commissioners to Increase Solid Waste Rates for 2025

During the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on October 1st, the commissioners approved an increase for 2025 KBR Solid Waste rates. County Treasurer Bruce Mitchell reported there are 410 personal customers, 33 business customers and 27 cabin owners being billed for Solid Waste.
