    Legislative Notes

Last Friday we held a hearing of the special committee created by my interim study, LR 178. It promoted the idea of building small modular nuclear reactors in Nebraska. These are similar to the reactors the US Navy has safely operated aboard ships and submarines for over sixty years. I see a nuclear energy future for Nebraska as the correct path forward. I believe this idea can attract votes from both sides of the political spectrum. The ten to fifteen-year planning horizon for this technology means we need to start today. I’m motivated to pursue this goal for Nebraska’s grandchildren. I want them to have the same affordable, reliable electricity that I have enjoyed my entire life.
