The Long Pine City Council had to approve the Year End Certification of City Street Superintendent for determining incentive payment in calendar year 2023. Certified was Keith Gilmore as the appointed City Superintendent during the months of January 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023. Since their office has closed, they had to fill out another Year End Certification for Chris Miller of Miller and Associates to finish the 2023 year by serving them in the capacity of City Street Superintendent from November 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs football season came to an end on Friday, October 27th with a loss to the Howells-Dodge Jaguars, 12-32, in the D2 Second Round Football Playoffs. The Dawgs ended a fantastic season of 9-1.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Team ended their season in Sub-District action with a win over the Valentine Lady Badgers, 3-1, and loss to the West Holt Lady Huskies 0-3. Valentine The Lady Bulldogs, #2 seed, met the Lady Badgers, #3 seed, on October 23rd in Atkinson for first round action in the Subdistrict C2-10 play.

With her first place finish in the Class D Girls Cross Country Championship, Katherine Kerrigan of Ainsworth was named to the 2023 Girls Cross Country Super-State and All-State Teams. The Cross Country Championship was held in Kearney at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, October 20th.

The Niobrara Council accepted the Quiet Parks International Trail award ceremony for the Niobrara National Scenic River on Friday, October 20, 2023. The ceremony was attended by Niobrara Council members, Nebraska Tourism officials and the general public.
