Tim Hickle is on a 195 Mile Training Walk from Valentine to Norfolk, NE

Many of us have utilized the walking trail on the outskirts of Ainsworth called the Cowboy Trail, a walkway path that stretches along north central Nebraska. Most of us have driven along Highway 20, either west to Valentine, NE or the cruise east to Norfolk, NE. But, very few of us have dared to make the trek on foot. Tim Hickle, on the other hand, doesn’t stray from a good challenge. Hickle of Englewood, CO started the long journey by foot from Valentine heading to Norfolk on the Cowboy Trail. He pulls a homemade wagon where he manages sleep and has his food, water, cook stove and tools stored. The rig is 2’ wide, 7’ long and 3’ deep. The space serves as a place to sleep and sit up to eat. When the wagon is empty, it weighs approximately 68 pounds and with his supplies, etc. it is around 100 pounds. The wagon is water and hail resistant. He left Valentine on Sunday, August 6th and hopes to make the 195 mile training walk to Norfolk around August 19th. This particular journey is part of a training program for a greater journey he is taking in 2 years. In 2025, Hickle plans to retire and pull this unit 2600 miles from the most northern point of the United States, Angle Inlet, MN, to the most southern point in Key West, FL. This event will take him approximately 6 months or 23 weeks.
