    Ainsworth Park Board Proposes Changes to East City Park

    Cody Goochey, representing the Ainsworth Park Board, met with the Ainsworth City Council during its regular meeting on August 9th. Goochey said the Park Board is proposing moving the shot put ring and discus field to the east area of East City Park for safety reasons and to have all the field event areas for track meets in one location.

    As students were ushered into the open doors of Ainsworth Community Schools on August 15th, they were met with bright new faces eager to be a part of their educational journey. There are seven new staff members joining the Ainsworth community. Let's meet these special people who are adamant that the youth of our community have exciting futures in education.

    Bassett Golfers Win Border Cup Competition

    Bassett jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the scramble and won each of the four rounds Saturday, August 5th at the Bassett Country Club en route to a 16 to 9 victory over Ainsworth in the annual Border Cup match play event.

    Ainsworth High School Athletes Gear Up For Upcoming Seasons

    The Ainsworth Volleyball Team has started practices for the upcoming season. With Ainsworth Community School starting on August 15th, sports will also be starting. Girls Golf opens their season on Thursday, August 17th with the O’Neill Invitational. Girls Volleyball will be next with the Varsity Jamboree on Tuesday, August 22nd at Valentine. The Ainsworth Football team will take to the field for their first game on Friday, August 25th against North Central in Springview. Cross Country starts their season on Thursday, August 31st with the Ainsworth Invitational starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. NSAA 2023 classifications for schools in Volleyball, Girls Golf and Cross Country. In Volleyball, Ainsworth, Valentine and West Holt are in Class C2 with North Central in Class D1. Ainsworth and Valentine are in Class C for Girls Golf. In Cross Country, Ainsworth remains in Class D along with Valentine and North Central.

    UNK Degrees for 210 to be Conferred at Summer Commencement

    Graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred for 210 summer graduates at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises 10 a.m. Friday, August 11th at UNK’s Health and Sports Center.
