    BKR 4-H Summer Workshop Programs Available to Area Youth

    The BKR 4-H program has wide range of workshops available to area youth this summer. Below you can read more about some of our workshops that we will be hosting. Whether you are Clover kid (5 to 7 years old) or 4-H’ers (8 and up), we would love to see you at our workshops this summer!     2024 Mountain Lion Season Approved for Parts of North Central Nebraska

    The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved staff recommendations for a 2024 mountain lion hunting season at its June 9th meeting in Alma. For the first time, a mountain lion harvest season will take place outside the Pine Ridge as the Niobrara Unit is created, encompassing parts of Brown, Cherry, Keya Paha, Rock and Sheridan counties.

    KBR Rural Public Power Operation Roundup Donates to New Scoreboard

    With baseball players looking on, Robert Beatty, General Manager of KBR Rural Public Power (left), presented Brandon Evans, representing E&L Baseball (right) with a check for $500.00. KBR RPPD Operation Roundup donated the money to the E&L Baseball Program to help fund a new scoreboard on the south ball field. The KBR RPPD Operation Roundup is funded by customers who roundup their bills to the next dollar. Those funds then go into a fund and the Roundup Board of Pam Bauer, Sonny Corkle, Jeff Andersen and Rob Lee review grant applications of various civic groups and organizations in the four county area served by KBRB RPPD to award funds. Evans estimates the cost of a new scoreboard for the south Little League field at $5,000.00. Any individual or organization wanted to donate to the new scoreboard can contact or make donations to the Ainsworth Elks Lodge or American Legion. Those wanting more information can contact Brandon Evans.

    Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

    The team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins hold on to first place with 28.5 team points after the third week of Women’s League Golf on June 7th. The team of Sam Silsby, Macey VonHeeder and Amanda Murphy edged closer to the first place team with 26.50 team points.

    Ainsworth Men’s Golf League

    There was a logjam at the top of the men’s league golf leaderboard Thursday at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Kevin Martin, Cody Goochey and Nick Martin each carded even-par rounds of 36 to share the top score of the night, with Landon Welke and Graig Kinzie one shot back with 1-over par rounds of 37. Ben Wright finished with a round of 38.

    Allison Taylor Named to CCC President’s List

    Central Community College has announced that Allison Taylor of Ainsworth has been named to the President’s Honor List for the 2023 spring semester. Students on the President’s Honor List earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average..
