Proceedings of Long Pine City Council Meeting The Long Pine City Council held their regular meeting on January 5, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Long Pine Community Center.

The first session of the 108th Nebraska Legislature has now begun. All the new and returning senators have been sworn in. The speaker and all the committee chairs have been elected and now the process of staffing the committees is almost done. Bill introduction has started. I have introduced my priority bill which is LB 77. This is my constitutional carry bill that would allow concealed carry of weapons by law-abiding citizens. It’s wrong to force citizens to pay money to the government in order to exercise a constitutional right. Twenty-five States have already passed laws like this. Nebraska needs to be number twenty-six.

Partisanship on the Line, Urban-Rural Divide Too? There’s been a lot of talk about preserving the officially nonpartisan nature of the Nebraska Legislature. But there is another issue, occasionally discussed with similar zeal in years past, that’s creeping up again.

Brown County Report January 1- 7, 2023 Sunday, January 1st Received multiple reports of a reckless driver, eastbound on Highway 20, near the Brown and Cherry County line. The Nebraska State Patrol later located the vehicle and issued a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“Blizzards Haven’t Changed Much” Fourteen inches of snow should equate to some much needed moisture, which is desperately needed. Although it shut down the business district, closed many streets, school, county roads and highways, I think everyone is surviving.
