Question: The leaves didn’t fall off the tree that I planted two years ago, is something wrong with it? Marcescence is the term used to describe winter leaf retention, common in oaks and a few other species. The leaves are dry, but don’t crumble and can stay on the tree until the wind or snow break them off or the new buds in spring push off the dry leaves.
