All parts of Nebraska are in drought areas. The southwest, north central and north east counties on Nebraska are listed ass extreme to exceptional drought. This included Brown, Rock and Keya Paha counties.
Area Closure Order for Bessey Ranger District, Scott Lookout Tower and 4-H Camp

Forest officials from the Nebraska National Forests & Grasslands, Bessey Ranger District announced an Area Closure Order for the Scott Lookout Tower and 4-H Camp beginning October 26, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. The order will remain in place through April 30, 2023.
Kathy Papstein Retires as Executive Director of Ainsworth Housing Agency

Kathy Papstein (right) has retired as the Executive Director of the Ainsworth Housing Agency after holding that position for nearly 23 years. Papstein is replaced by Zanette “Zee” Kimble of Ainsworth.

As many readers noticed and commented, I goofed up the Sample Ballots in last week's edition of the Ainsworth Star-Journal! I published the front of the Sample Ballot twice, instead of the front and back of the Sample Ballot. So, this week is the correct Sample Ballot (I checked multiple times to ensure I had it correct).
