The team of Shane Kinnick, Dane Sears and Dallas Fowler continue in first place with a team score of 50 points in the Ainsworth Men’s League Golf on Thursday, July 29th. Moving into second place with 45 points was the team of Vance Heyer, Joel Klammer and Jade Egle.

Low scramble scores were a 35 by Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins and a 38 by Jen Schiermeyer and Karissa Beck during Ainsworth Women League Golf on Wednesday, July 28th. Team point leaders with 55 points are Kathy Worrell, Julie Micheel and Stephanie Kinzie; 52.5 points are Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins; and 47.5 points are Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Chelsey Peterson and Rylee Pierce..

The annual Glow Ball Golf Tournament was held at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course on Saturday, July 31st. Twenty-one teams competed in the annual event.

During the 18-hole 2-Lady Scramble at the Ainsworth Golf Course on Saturday, July 24th, Julie Micheel and Rachel Peers shot a 68 to win the championship flight. Second place went to Anna O’Kief and Kelsey Dredge with a 73 followed by Wendy Wilkins and Natalie Leach taking 3rd place with a 78.

Show off your sandcastle building skills during the Calamus Castles event August 7th at Homestead Knolls Beach Area at Calamus State Recreation Area. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

The state has issued a health alert for Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB), also known as toxic blue-green algae, at Maskenthine Reservoir in Stanton County, Willow Creek Reservoir in Pierce County, Calamus Reservoir in Loup County, Bluestem Lake in Lancaster County and Pawnee Lake (east and west beaches) in Lancaster County.

Four golfers shared the top spot Thursday during men’s league golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Cory Brodbeck, Brett Knoetzel, Graig Kinzie and Nick Martin each posted even-par rounds of 36 Thursday, finishing one shot ahead of Logan Leach and Cody Goochey, who shot 1-over par rounds of 37. Jesse Owen, Chuck Whitney and Dallas Fowler carded rounds of 39.

The Ainsworth Women’s Golf League golfed on Wednesday, July 21st. Low Team Scramble scores for the evening were: Two over par, 38, shot by the team of Jen Martin, Ann Hoch and Wendy Wilkins and tied with a three over par, 39 were the teams of Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell and Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Chelsey Peterson and Rylee Pierce.

Four individuals and the Wayne State College men’s track and field team received All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released July 22nd by the coaches’ association office in New Orleans, LA.
