The team of Troy Brodbeck, Graig Kinzie and Robby France remain in first place in the Ainsworth Men’s League Golf on Thursday, July 1st by a slim one-point lead over second place with a team score of 27.

The Lady Wranglers will have a Gymkhana on July 11, 2021 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine, NE. The show will start at 12:00 p.m. CDT. The age divisions will be Pre-Juniors - 5-8, Juniors - 9-12, Seniors - 13-18 and Adults - 19 and over.

Brown County Physical Therapist Allison Baker visited third through sixth graders on their final day of summer school on Thursday, July 1st. She discussed the importance of stretching out muscles to keep them flexible, strong and healthy and then lead the students in some stretches.

Twenty-one student-athletes from Ainsworth High School were named Academic All-State by the Lincoln Journal Star (not associated with the NSAA Academic All-State awards). Junior and Senior student-athletes are nominated by their coach or another high school representative.

Student-athletes at Northeast Community College excelled both in the classroom and in their respective sport this past season. Ninety-three student-athletes were named ICCAC Academic All-Region, it was announced by the ICCAC recently.

Bill Moos’ time as Nebraska’s athletic director is over. The University of Nebraska announced Friday morning that Moos will retire from the position, effective June 30th.

The annual 4-Person Scramble Alumni Golf Tournament was held at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course on Sunday, June 27th. The team of Dave Campbell, Andrew Campbell, Matt Campbell and Coleman Campbell shot a 16-under round of 56 to win the Championship Flight.

During the month of June, the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course held Junior Golf. This introduced the youth to golfing - a time to learn and play. The lessons were taught on June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. Youth who finished Kindergarten - 8th grades this year were invited to be a part of this program. Instructors included Wendy Wilkins, Heather Lutter, Julie Micheel and Brenda Konkoleski along with other volunteers.

The 2021 Nebraska State High School Finals Rodeo was held in Hastings, June 17th-19th at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Over 150 high school rodeo athletes competed in 13 events and north central Nebraska was well represented.

Ainsworth Fire Department received training through Brad Thavenet, Corporate Trainer with Dive Rescue International of Ft. Collins, CO, Battalion Chief with NE Task Force 1 and Urban Search & Rescue Program Manager to conduct a Swift Water Rescue class for their members as well as other departments nationwide.
