After a long wait, it was great to see high school track and field again. The 10th Annual Ainsworth Relays were held at East City Park in Ainsworth on Friday, March 26th. Weather was in the mid-50’s and winds were from the south at 10 to 20 mph.

Recent weather has been conducive to practicing golf, but the Ainsworth High School Boys Golf Team will start the 2021 season with a scramble at Frederick Peak in Valentine on March 30th (weather permitting).

Coaches from the eight schools that make up the Southwest Conference have announced the 2020-21 SWC All-Conference Basketball Teams. The coaches nominate players and then vote to select first, second and third team players for girls and boys basketball.

The Ainsworth Area Chamber of Commerce met on Monday, March 1st. Board members present included President Karen O’Hare, Vice President Brenna Duester, Treasurer Hunter Martin, Secretary Katie Leymaster, Danielle Witte Dan Brockman and Anissa Julius.

Eight Chadron State College basketball players were among the academic honor roll members listed by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Gage Delimont of Ainsworth, NE, was recognized from the men’s team.

Sam Wilkins of Ainsworth is one of 50 University of Nebraska- Lincoln students selected as a new strengths coach in the College of Business’ Clifton Strengths Institute. Wilkins is a sophomore agricultural engineering and agricultural economics major at the university.

The Ainsworth Bulldog Basketball Team finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 10-11. The Dawgs were a young team, starting two juniors and three freshmen, so it was definitely a building year.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rainbow trout are being stocked in city ponds and lakes across the state in March and April to enhance fishing opportunities this spring, especially in urban areas.

The Ainsworth speech team had a successful day of competition on Saturday, March 6th at the C1-6 District contest in Ainsworth and received District Runner-Up honors. At the district competition, the top three places in each event qualify for the State Tournament, which will be held at Kearney High School on Thursday, March 18th.
