Brown County Community Foundation Awards Scholarships

The Brown County Community Foundation recently awarded scholarships for the following categories: Jan O’Hare Memorial, Teacher Education, Non-Traditional Student and Upper Class Student. The 2024 Scholarships will go to: • Non-Traditional Student Jayme Kinney.

Keion Fischer Wins Ainsworth Men’s Open

Thirty-seven golfers braved a warm day to golf in the Ainsworth Men’s Open on Sunday, July 14th at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Keion Fischer won the Men’s Open Championship Flight with an even-par 72.

Work Begins at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area

An extensive road construction project began July 15th at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area and extend into the spring. Visitor access will be limited and phased during construction.

Carter Nelson Named 2023-24 KBRB Athlete of the Year

Carter Nelson has been named the 2023-24 KBRB Athlete of the Year. Among a senior class loaded with talented athletes, Nelson received the award based on a vote of Ainsworth High School coaches, faculty and A Club members.

Area Youth Participate in Ainsworth Youth Golf

Area youth had the opportunity again this year to learn to play golf. Youth Kindergarten through 8th Grade were taught about golf on four Wednesdays during June at the Ainsworth Golf Course.

1st Class Auto Wins 2024 Garth Swett Memorial Kickball Tournament

The annual 2024 Garth Swett Memorial Kickball Tournament was held on Philben Field on Saturday, June 29th with 1st Class Auto Team taking first place. 1st Class Auto defeated SFC Cross Hammers by a score of 5-4 in the championship game.

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

Last week of individual golfing for the season with the Ainsworth’s Women’s Golf League has been completed, the team of Amanda Murphy, Christy Fullen and Natalie Leach remain in first place with 67 points. The team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins are in second place with 60 points and in third place is the team of Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell with 51.50.

Ainsworth Men’s League Golf

Nick Martin’s 1-under par round of 35 was the top effort Thursday during men’s league golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Martin finished two shots clear of Graig Kinzie, who posted a 1-over par round of 37. John Pierce and Brett Knoetzel carded rounds of 38, followed by Cody Goochey and Landon Welke with rounds of 39.

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

After six weeks of Ainsworth’s Women’s Golf League completed, the team of Amanda Murphy, Christy Fullen and Natalie Leach are still in first place with 60.50 points. The team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins are in second place with 51 points and in third place is the team of Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell with 43.50.

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League

With five weeks of Ainsworth’s Women’s Golf League completed, the team of Amanda Murphy, Christy Fullen and Natalie Leach remains in first place with 51.50 points. In second place with 43.50 points is the team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins.
