Wednesday, March 30, 2022 was a special day for students of Ainsworth, Rock County, Keya Paha County, Thedford, and Valentine schools. Cody-Kilgore Unified Schools was included, however inclement weather kept them from attending.

Fisheries staff at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission again have started capturing spawning walleyes at Sherman Reservoir, Merritt Reservoir and Lake Mc- Conaughy to collect eggs to meet stocking requests.

Ainsworth Middle School Hosts Invitational Track Meet

The Ainsworth Middle School Invitational Track Meet was held on March 31st at East City Park in Ainsworth. The tracksters competed on a day with temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s with northwest winds at 10-15 mph.

Graff Selected as Assistant Coach for 2022 West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game

The volleyball coaches have been selected to lead the West and East teams for the 38th annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. Leading the East team will be Samantha Hammond from Lexington.

Dakota Stutzman jumped 14’ 10.5” for Ainsworth in the Girls Long Jump Relays. Ainsworth placed third by combining the jumps of Stutzman with Eden Raymond’s and Cameryn Goochey’s jumps.

11th Annual Ainsworth Relays Held in Windy Conditions

Area track teams fought 25-35 mph winds with temperatures in the mid 50’s during the 11th Annual Ainsworth Relays at Ainsworth’s East City Park on March 25th. O’Neill won the Girls events with a team score of 86 with seven schools competing while West Holt won the boys events with a team score of 94.

Three AHS Girls and Two Boys Named to SWC All-Conference Basketball Teams

Coaches from the eight schools that make up the Southwest Conference have announced the 2021-22 SWC All-Conference Basketball Teams. The coaches nominate players and then vote to select first, second and third team players for girls and boys basketball.

Senior Ben Barrow plays defense in the District Final. He averaged 2.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game this season.

AHS Boys Basketball Finishes Season 17-9 and Says Goodbye to Six Seniors

The Ainsworth Bulldogs Boys Basketball Team finished the 2021-22 season with a record of 17-9 and the title of D1-3 District Runner-Up. The Dawgs’ leading scorer for the season was sophomore Traegan McNally, who averaged 13.5 points per game.
