It’s Always Construction Season for the Body

Like a car racing along the interstate, exiting onto a highway, and finally reaching the family farm along a dusty gravel road, our blood circulates inside our bodies. There are the major blood vessels, such as the aorta running out of the heart, and there are the tiny capillaries allowing blood cells one at a time to carry oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in our bodies. The network of capillaries is so complex it is estimated there are over 40 billion in one person, and if stretched out in a single line they would cover over 100,000 miles.

Meetings Scheduled for Parents of Children With Disabilities

On June 7, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., a meeting conducted by Ainsworth Community Schools will take place in the Ainsworth Community School’s district office and at 10:30 a.m. at the Rock County High School library by Rock County Schools.

Summer Safety Tips

As schools let out for the summer and outdoor activities increase, so do calls to Poison Centers. Exposure to plants, insects and chemicals can put a damper on the fun and cause lasting injuries. Prevention is the key to safety and a high priority for the Poison Center.

Alpha Delta Wraps Up Year

Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met May 20th, 2023 for the final meeting of the 2022-2023 year. The meeting was held at the Long Pine home of Di McNutt. Four members answered roll call and made a donation to the Read Aloud Nebraska/Nebraska State Project fund.

Appelt and O’Kief Graduate

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,753 degrees during commencement exercises on May 19th and 20th. The 3,669 graduates are from 59 countries; 47 states, the District of Columbia and Guam; and more than 240 Nebraska communities.

Brown County Hospital Board

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, May 22, 2023. Present were Chairman Tate Schipporeit, board members Brent Deibler, Kirk Peterson and John Gross.
