Ainsworth High School Speech Team Qualifies Two Students for State Competition

On Wednesday, March 8th, the Ainsworth High School speech team competed in the C2-3 District Speech Contest in Plainview. This was a difficult day of competition for the speakers! In order to qualify for the state tournament, the speakers must make it into the final round of competition, which is made up of the six highest ranking speakers in each event, and then place in the top three speakers of their events.

‘Steers for Students’ Program Enters Second Year

Our ‘Steers for Students’ program is off again for a second year. This program is directed to the youth of the Sandhills for nutritious lunches and education about how beef gets from the pasture to your plate.

Information Open House Meeting March 23rd for Improvements to Bridge Over Minnechaduza Creek

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) will hold a public information open house meeting regarding proposed improvements to the bridge overMinnechaduza Creek on Nebraska Highway 12 (N-12) in Cherry County. The meeting will be held at Mid-Plains Community College – Valentine Campus, 715 US-20 in Valentine, NE on Thursday, March 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be an openhouse format. No formal presentation will be given.

Alpha Delta Meets

Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met March 4, 2023 at the Range Cafe in Bassett. Five members answered roll call and made a donation to the Read Aloud Nebraska fund.

NEA Big Read at the Ainsworth Public Library

The Ainsworth Library is joining the Northeast Community College NEA Big Read during March and April. The Big Read selection will focus on the title of “Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body” by Rebekah Taussig.
