Blaire Speck is New 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator

Blaire Speck, the new 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator, will be serving Brown, Keya Paha and Rock Counties as well as Holt and Boyd Counties. Based in the Ainsworth office, she will travel to O’Neill.

Should We Even Consider a Two-House Legislature? Every session of the Nebraska Legislature features what promises to be a real clunker of a bill. This year’s prizewinner – so far – is a proposal to change from a unicameral to a two-house Legislature.

Thursday, the 26th of January at 1:30 p.m. I will introduce my constitutional-carry bill (LB 77) in room 1113 in front of the Judiciary Committee. This is my priority bill for the session. I have introduced bills on this subject every year of the six years I have been in the legislature.

“Month of January” The first month of 2023 is quickly slipping by. I’m not sure where it has gone, but I guess it provided a few snow days for everyone - school students and staff and several businesses closed or shortened hours because of the snow and wind.

State’s Best to Perform January 30th at UNK Honor Band and Choral Clinic

Students from 92 high schools in Nebraska will participate in the annual Honor Band and Choral Clinic hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. The January 30th event includes 558 high school music students who will work with UNK faculty and guest instructors before performing two public concerts at UNK’s Health and Sports Center.

Bowhunting Couple Sentenced nn Large Nebraska Poaching Case

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ A bowhunting couple from Iowa has been sentenced to probation for conducting hunts at a central Nebraska guiding and hunting business where numerous people have been convicted for violating federal laws that prohibit the trafficking of wildlife.
