The Governor said his new Department of Corrections director was going to turn around Nebraska’s troubled prison system. Now, seven years later, Director Scott Frakes is stepping down, a few months before Governor Pete Ricketts leaves office.

Legislative Notes

As the next session of the Nebraska Legislature approaches in January, senators are starting to talk about bill ideas. As I ponder my last two years in the legislature, I am reminded that we senators who are about to be termed-out have a duty. We need to leave the Unicameral better than we found it for the people of Nebraska.

Nebraska Head Football Coach Scott Frost walked off the football field at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, for the last time as head coach on Saturday, September 10th. On Sunday, September 11th, Trev Alberts, Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics of Nebraska told the head coach that he was fired and released of his duties. Along with being fired, he will receive a $15 million payout. The search will begin immediately for a new coach to begin duties after this season. Interim Head Coach will be Mickey Joseph.
