Ainsworth High School is preparing for the 2022 Homecoming activities. Theme this year will be “Once Upon A Victory.” During the week of Monday September 12th through Friday, September 16th, students will be able to dress up and have some fun.

There were 219 rodeo contestants competing for $28,000.00 in prize money at the 87th Annual Brown County Fair and Rodeo at the Brown County Fair Grounds in Johnstown, NE on September 3rd, 4th and 5th.

The regular meeting of the Ainsworth Board of Education opened on Monday, September 12th with public hearings. Board members present included Scott Erthum, Brad Wilkins, Jim Arens, Frank Beel, Mark Johnson and Jessica Pozehl.

The Long Pine City Council held its Annual Budget Hearing, Tax Requests Hearing and the 1 and 6 Year Plan Hearing, followed by its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, September 8th. Council members Linda Alberts, Kathy Papstein and Dave Cheatum were present along with Mayor Ed Brown.

Nebraska Head Football Coach Scott Frost walked off the football field at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, for the last time as head coach on Saturday, September 10th. On Sunday, September 11th, Trev Alberts, Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics of Nebraska told the head coach that he was fired and released of his duties. Along with being fired, he will receive a $15 million payout. The search will begin immediately for a new coach to begin duties after this season. Interim Head Coach will be Mickey Joseph.
