Beverly Jean (Gustafson) Stahl was born on August 16, 1944, in Ainsworth to Russell A. and Leona V. (Roberts) Gustafson. She was one of 11 siblings. Beverly passed away suddenly after a short illness at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth on February 12.

Beverly graduated from Chambers High School and then lived with her grandmother, Minnie in Ainsworth and worked as a telephone switchboard operator. There she met John Stahl and they married on June 19, 1964, and moved to Bassett. She worked for Don Gordon at Standard Oil in Bassett as a secretary until she left to focus on raising her children.

Beverly was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was simply being with those she loved. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, always filled with comforting aromas. She had a gift for making people feel cared for, whether through a favorite meal, a listening ear, or a shared laugh around the table.

Beverly found delight in life’s simple pleasures. She loved puzzles, games, crafting, and playing with her grandchildren. Bev enjoyed games with friends, particularly a lively round of Rummikub. She took quiet pride in raising children who grew into bright, creative, and remarkable adults, a reflection of her steady guidance and unconditional love.

Music was another joy that filled Beverly’s life. She loved country music and praise and worship songs, and she was never shy about lending her voice and guitar to sing alongside others, especially during cherished family reunions. She was kind, gentle, humble, and compassionate. Inspired by her daughter Mandy, she became deeply involved in supporting Special Olympics programming. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the love she leaves behind.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sheila (Lynn) Jones; son Kevin Stahl; daughter Amanda “Mandy” Stahl;
brothers-in-law Martin Pickens, Gregory Anthony, Duane Emerson and Larry Stahl; and a sister-in-law Peggy Gustafson. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John Stahl of Ainsworth; daughter Dr. Kendra (Michael) Sibbernsen of Papillion; twin grandsons Matthew and Lucas Sibbernsen; siblings Barbara (Duane) Mintle, Paul (Dona) Gustafson, Jay (Christie) Gustafson, Susan Pickens, Roxanne Anthony, Rebecca (Tom) Parrish, Russell Gustafson, Doug (Kay) Gustafson, and Terry Gustafson; sisters-in-law Connie Emerson and Joyce Stahl along with nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Funeral service was held on Monday, February 16, at the Ainsworth Free Church with Pastor Charles Kieffer officiating at the event. The CD Selections of “Mansion Over The Hilltop” by Elvis Presley and “In The Garden” were played. Casketbearers were Brad Emerson, Shaun Emerson, Matt Sibbernsen, Lucas Sibbernsen, Todd Stahl and Tony Stahl. Memorials were suggested to the family in Beverly’s name for a future designation. Interment was in the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth.
