Beverly Jean (Brainard) Shaul, 91, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in North Platte, NE.

She was born June 29, 1930 in Newhelina, NE at aunt Julia and uncle Theodore Christian’s home. She was the daughter of the late John S. and Margaret M. (Leonard) Brainard.

Beverly graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1947. She went on to teach school from 1947-1948 at a school south of Dunning and at Cottonwood from 1948-1950.

She met her future husband, Otto L. Strand at the Cannon Store. She walked to the Can non Store after school and Otto insisted on driving her home. Beverly worked as a server at the Stanley Hotel the summer after she graduated and came back to Hyannis, NE and worked at Hotel De Fair as a waitress. Otto and Beverly were married in Sheridan, WY July 1, 1949. They lived with Anna E. Strand right after marriage and then moved to the Burdick Place. Following Otto’s passing in 1988, Beverly met and married Elmo Shaul, who passed in 2000.

Beverly enjoyed knitting, embroidery and applique embroidery. She knitted over 30 sweaters for family members and friends. She was a devout Catholic, praying five Rosaries a day. She was a true prayer warrior praying the rosary for her family, our government and country, for all prayer petitions, for all to be one family, and for the morals of the World.

She is preceded in death by both her husbands; her son, Lewis Strand; her siblings, Betty Elizabeth, Agnes Lorene, John Stewart, Robert Wallace, Willa Mae and Richard Eldon.

Beverly is survived by her children, Jeannie Haskell, Russell Strand, MargaretAnn Sellers, Julie (Scott) Correll and Dan (Lisa) Strand; daughter-in-law, Sue Strand; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with The Reverend Vidya Sagar Arikotla Celebrating. Cremation was chosen and burial will be private at a later date.
