Sadly on May 27, 2021, Beverly Lou Miller lost her battle with cancer at the age of 73. Beverly, or Lou as her husband Mike called her, is loved and missed by her husband, two children, two in-law children and four grandchildren.

Beverly passed away in her daughter’s home surrounded by people who cherished her. Beverly was born in the town of Lynch, NE in 1947 to John Scott and Vera Iona Gray. She grew up in the small town of Lynch and on the family homestead with her one brother and four sisters.

Lou met Michael Reed Miller through mutual friends in 1966. They hit it off right away and spent their lives together moving around parts of the country for Mike’s work. They lived in Nebraska, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico.

Beverly loved being a life partner to her husband, a mother to her children and a grandmother. Beverly’s mother passed away when Beverly was just three years old. She knew how important a mother is and was a wonderful mom. Beverly’s aunt Latosca and Beverly’s siblings became surrogate mothers for her.

Beverly was employed as a Mechanical and Electrical Draftsperson while living in Colorado. She managed two Hit or Miss stores in Texas. Beverly retired from Hit or Miss in the late 90s. In the early 2000s, she and Mike moved to Kerrville in the hill country of Texas. Beverly spent summers with her grandchildren, taking them on mini adventures in the Texas hill country.

Beverly loved to sew. She shared her talents with many and volunteered her sewing skills to create special items for veterans residing in the Veteran’s Long Term Care Facility in Kerrville, TX. Along with her sewing skills, Beverly was at her best experimenting in the kitchen or creating family favorites. She shared her culinary delights with many at the American Legion Post 208, where she was a member for many years. She and Mike moved to Alamogordo, NM in 2016.

Beverly leaves behind a loving family - survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Michael Miller of New Mexico; daughter, Tracey (Fred) Spencer of New Mexico; son, Brent (Angela) Miller of Texas; and four grandchildren, Amber Spencer, Elissa Miller, Keely Spencer and Peyton Miller; brother, Richard Gray of Nebraska; sister, Margaret Deblauw of Nebraska; brother-in-law, David Wemhoff of Virginia; brother-in-law, Rod (Kathy) Worrell, of Ainsworth, NE; and sister-in law, Sally Miller of Gregory, SD; along with several other nieces and nephews; and her chosen family, Gwyneth Peterson of Nebraska, Punkie Reisdorff of Nebraska and Carol Chriswell of Tennessee.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Beverly Lou’s life will be held on Friday, July 30th in Alamogordo, NM. Beverly loved flowers and the color yellow. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a yellow flower to remember her.
