Corrine Viola (Hendricks) Gross, or as her loved ones fondly called her, Cori, embarked on her grand adventure beyond the mortal realm on November 13, 2023 at the age of 67 in Ainsworth, NE. Born on January 3, 1956, in the sunny land of San Bernardino, CA, Cori radiated joy like a perpetual ray of sunshine. She was a master of mischief, a jester of love and a true champion of laughter.

Cori, the ultimate solo superhero, conquered the challenges of single motherhood with grace and flair. She was a force to be reckoned with, a one-woman show of strength and determination. Her job as campus security at San Dimas High School was her secret lair, where she fought the battles of bureaucracy and teenage angst with a wink and a smile. She loved each kid as her own.

When she wasn’t saving the world, Cori had a knack for collecting frogs and wind chimes. Her home was a whimsical wonderland, where ribbiting companions and tinkling melodies danced harmoniously. She believed that every chime carried a secret message from the wind. Her fondest memories that she shared were of fishing at Hebgen Lake in Montana and the big rainbow trout caught. She also enjoyed back road adventures, we got lost most of the time but that made it great! Cori passed on her excellent BBQ skills to her son, who thinks he makes the better steaks and ribs now.

Cori’s legacy of love and laughter lives on through her daughter, Venessa 45 (Chris) Fernandez, her son, Kenneth 43 (Jamie) Shillam, and her squad of grandchildren: Jeremiah 23 (Tessa), Airyan 18, Scott 17, Chris 16, Kyle 13, Kaiden 12, Randall 2, Duane 1, and her great-grandson, Luca 11 months. They were her partners in crime, her sidekicks in mischief and the reason she always had a smile on her face. She will also live on through her sister-in-law, Nancy Hendricks in Truesdale, MO; and many other family members.

Cori has joined her father, John F. Hendricks; her mother, Viola M. Hendricks; and her brother, David Hendricks at home in heaven.

A Celebration of Cori’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter and maybe even a few frog-inspired pranks. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the heroic task of covering the funeral expenses. Together, let’s ensure Cori’s final adventure is as epic as her spirit, https://gofund.me/dfe29f6e Cori, you’ve left a trail of laughter and joy in your wake, and the world is a brighter place because of you. May your spirit continue to sprinkle mischief and mirth wherever it roams. Keep shining, playful soul. Cheers to a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever remain in our hearts.
