Gary G. Green

On the morning of June 27th 2022, Gary G. Green passed away in his home in Bassett, NE at the age of 77 years. Gary was born to Dale and Dorine (Coleman) Green on March 11, 1945 at Kilgore, NE. He was raised in Cody, NE where he grew up ranching with his family and participated in sports and rodeo. He joined the United State Army in 1965 and served for 21 years. He was honorably discharged in 1986. Gary met and married the love of his life, Jennifer James, at Fort Sill, OK in October 1986 and they had two daughters, Kalah and Casey.

Gary enjoyed making things with his hands, especially furniture and anything wood related. He was hungry for knowledge and an avid history buff - always willing to share his knowledge with anyone who was willing to receive it. Gary was a firm believer in giving back to his community.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Dale; mother, Dorine; brother, Kenneth, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Bassett; two daughters, Kalah of Gretna, NE and Casey Magary and husband, Travis of Bassett; four grandchildren, William, Tyiler May, EmmaLynn and Blain; two brothers, Harold of Los Olivos, CA and James Green wife, Lindsey of Wetumpka, AL; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Green of LaVista, NE; along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Bassett United Methodist Church with Pastor Mick Thornton as the officiant. The CD Selections of “Daddy’s Little Girl” by The Shires, “Just Breathe” by Willie and Lukas Nelson and “Scars In Heaven” by Casting Crowns were played. There was a special reading offered titled, If Tomorrow Starts Without Me. Military Honors were conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team. Memorials were suggested to the family in Gary’s name for a future designation. Interment followed in the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett.
