Joseph Clayton Dillon, 82, died January 3, 2022 at his home in Stillwater with his wife by his side. His memorial service was held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were April Coates and Patrick McPherson.

He was born June 17, 1939 to Smokey and Evelyn Luther Dillon in Kearney, NE. He attended school in Ainsworth, NE. His higher education was obtained while serving in the military. During his 20 years in the Navy, Marines and Army Reserves, he received many awards which include, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Lebanon), Joint Service Commendations Medal, Bronze Star w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy; 3 Overseas Service Bars, Viet Nam Campaign Medal w/3 rd Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge,Valorous Unit Award, Purple Heart Viet Nam Civil Actions Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expert Qualification Badge and Good Conduct Medals (4). He married Rae Hill on December 18, 1959 in Fallbrook, CA and they spent 62 years together. His hobbies included Westerns and yelling at the Dallas Cowboys.

Those preceding him in death were daughters, Shelly Dillon and Jackie Richardson; and grandson, Zackary Richardson.

Survivors include his wife; children, Shawn Dillon, Linda Burrage, Joseph Dillon II and Shilynn Setser; grandchildren, William Richardson, Ranielle Richardson, Jed Richardson, Logan Lucas, Dustin Dillon, Sarah Sullivent, Katelyn Longest, Phoenix Dillon and Sloane Setser; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings Raymond Dillon and Betty Granlund.

Honorary pallbearers were Shawn Dillon, Joseph Dillon II, Mathew Setser and Logan Lucas.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Family Crisis, 3800 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075 in Joe’s name.
