Leslie Eugene “Gene” Quinn, 86, of Tampa, FL, died September 10, 2022 at his home.
Gene was born June 9, 1936 in Ainsworth, NE to Leslie and Zeta (Jackman) Quinn.
Gene graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1954. Gene attended Kearney State College from 1954 to 1956.
Gene entered the United States Army on February 8, 1956 and was honorably discharged on January 22, 1959.
Gene returned to Ainsworth and worked at Cudahy as a sales person from 1959 to 1961. He then moved to Grand Junction, CO to work for a time, before moving to Corpus Christi, TX to work as a manager at a Cafeteria of a college.
Gene moved to Tampa, FL in 1971. He worked for Keyes Fibre Company where he was the sales territory manager from 1968 to 1981. He was also in real estate sales with Smith and Associates. He later worked at Heritage Paper Company.
Gene went to Patches Restaurant often and the people there were like family to him. Gene was a past member of the Ainsworth United Methodist Church.
Gene is survived by a sister, Beverly Gallaway of Grand Island, NE; seven nieces and nephews, Doug (Joni) Gallaway of Omaha, NE, Greg (Jan) Gallaway of Overland Park, KS, Tom Gallaway of Coto De Caza, CA, Tammy (Al) Hitchcock of Burwell, NE, Tracy Quinn of Santa Monica, CA, Ken (Katie) Quinn of Orange County, CA, Clayton “Dale” (Karin) Quinn of Rigby, ID and their families.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clayton “Butch” Quinn.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth, NE. Inurnment will be in the Ainsworth City Cemetery. Pastor Martin Leeper will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Ainsworth United Methodist Church. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, NE is in charge of arrangements.
