Peg Aschwege, age 56, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, March 19. She was born September 22, 1969, in Ainsworth to Sid and Ruth Salzman.

Peg grew up on a ranch in the Sandhills, alongside her parents and four siblings. As the youngest child, by far, Peg was precocious and creative. She learned to cook for hungry ranch hands from her mom, Ruthie, and learned to put up hay by operating a rake from her dad, Sid.

After graduating Ainsworth High School, she moved to Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska. The small-town girl with a big personality didn't blend in, she thrived. She earned a spot on the UNL cheerleading squad, became a member of Alpha Chi Omega and cultivated many lifelong friendships.

Her outgoing nature propelled her career as a marketing professional and she worked for KOLN/KGIN, Runza Restaurants, Peak Interests (Pizza Hut) and Lincoln Lutheran.

She met her future husband, Dave, after her college days. Their long-distance romance culminated in a wedding during a blizzard in 2000.

She achieved her goal of starting a family when her first son, Jack Albert, was born in 2003. He was the apple of her eye. Samuel Paul arrived in 2007 and was a bundle of energy. He brought even more joy into her heart.

Peg quickly adapted as a boy mom and embraced their interests and personalities. She even developed an appreciation for the game of baseball, spending countless hours at stadiums all over the country to support Dave. She enjoyed the pastoral nature of the game as she cheered for her boys.

In 2010 Peg "got her girl," Kathleen Ruth, as a 40th birthday gift to herself. They share an unbreakable bond as well as a fondness for movies, musicals and chocolate.

Her family was complete and her lifetime goal was achieved. She was grateful for the years she was able to focus on raising her children. She greeted them each morning with "Good Morning, Sunshine" and sent them out the door with "See ya, Love ya, Bye." Her eternal motto was "Love Each Other."

Peg's Catholic faith and her family were the foundations of her life. She was always there for all, whether hosting parties or acting as the Easter bunny assistant, short order cook and “feelings coach."

Peg is survived by Dave's siblings Doug (and Kelly) and Diane (and Mark). She was preceded in death by Dave's parents and brother, Dan. Peg honored her parents throughout her life and is survived by her mother, Ruth. Her father, Sidney (Sid), proceeded her in death. She cherished her siblings, Mary Beth (and Dave), Ann, John and Steve (and Amy). She was a fun-loving aunt to many nieces, nephews and their children.

Peg had an extensive network of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for later designation. Condolences online at www.bmlfh.com
